Overview
You can add budget line items manually (one by one) or upload them in bulk using the Upload Template. Uploading is fastest when your budget already exists in Excel.
Prerequisites
You have a project open in inBuild.
You know which Budget you’re updating.
Your budget data includes Cost Code, Description, Budget Amount, and optional Modifications.
Step-by-step
Open your project → go to Budget.
Click Add New Line Items.
Choose Upload Template and click Download Template.
Open the template (Excel) and fill in the required columns (see table below).
If your budget already exists in Excel, copy/paste your codes, descriptions, and amounts into the template.
If you don’t use modifications, enter 0 in the Modifications column.
Save the template file.
Back in inBuild, click Select File, choose your completed template, then Open.
Click Upload to import the budget line items.
That’s it—your budget is now uploaded to inBuild.

Tips
Copy/paste works best when your source spreadsheet uses the same column order as the template.
Ensure amounts are numbers (no currency symbols).
Review a few sample rows after upload to confirm everything mapped correctly.
Troubleshooting
Upload failed / columns not recognized
Make sure you’re using the latest inBuild template and that column headers are unchanged.Amounts look wrong
Remove currency symbols/commas in Excel; use plain numbers (e.g.,12500
not$12,500
).Missing line items
Verify there are no blank rows between data and that every required column is filled.
